PSI Brad Agnew, May 9th

Dr. Brad Agnew, professor of history at Northeastern State University, will be the featured speaker at the final Books Sandwiched In program at the Tahlequah Public Library, 12 noon to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 9. Friends of the Library volunteers will serve a $3 light lunch beginning at 11:30.

Dr. Agnew will be summarizing his chapter on the history of the Illinois River that he wrote for The Illinois River Survey: A Visual Record.

This book depicts in pictures and words the natural scenic beauty of the Illinois River, which draws over 300,000 visitors a year to Tahlequah, many of whom float the Illinois River in a summer tradition considered an Oklahoma rite of passage and part of the state’s rich cultural heritage.

Those interested in learning more about the Illinois River, its history and the issues involved in preserving its scenic beauty, will want to attend this program.
