Tahlequah, Oklahoma
Founded 1839

The city of Tahlequah is located at the Western terminus of the forced migration of the Cherokee tribe of Native Americans from the Eastern U.S. which we now call the "trail of tears."  Tahlequah is the current capital of the Cherokee Nation.  Tahlequah is also home to one of the finest universities the state has to offer, Northeastern State University or NSU.  Tahlequah was recently named the 55th best small town in America by a prominent periodical publication.  Our town is rich in history and heritage, a proud place with proud people.
